Your Guide to Free Family Fun at Summerfest 2025
Summerfest turns Milwaukee’s lakefront into the world’s biggest backyard party—and you don’t have to spend a dime to enjoy a full day (or three weekends) of music, memories and kid-approved activities. Here’s everything North Shore families need to know to keep Summerfest easy on the wallet without skimping on the fun.
Free Summerfest Admission Days to Know
You can get in free just by showing up at the right time or donating to a good cause. See the full list of 2025 Summerfest promos to get in free.
For example, on opening day—Thursday, June 19—you can bring three non-perishable food items between noon and 3 p.m. and get free admission. Friday, June 20 is Children’s Fest Day with free entry and tons of family fun from noon to 3 p.m.
Other days offer free entry in exchange for school supplies, hygiene items, or children's books. There are also special days for college students, military families, and first responders. On the Fourth of July, everyone gets in free from noon to 6 p.m., and on the final Saturday, Fan Appreciation Day offers free admission and a ticket to next year’s fest for the first 30,000 guests.
You can also score free tickets other ways. Download the Summerfest app—if you’re among the first 15,000, you’ll get a free ticket valid June 19–21 (entry before 4 p.m.). Pick ’n Save stores are running a Summerfeast promotion: spend $25 on select items through June 10 and your receipt earns two tickets. Or give blood with Versiti between June 9–15 and receive a one-day pass.

You can also spread out a blanket in nearby Veterans Park for a fantastic view without buying a ticket.
North Shore Family Tips
Skip parking fees by using the bus or a free shuttle. Pack light but bring sealed water bottles or empty cups to refill at hydration stations. Arrive early if you’re bringing a stroller—mornings are less crowded, and the Community Park is a shady spot for downtime. For a midday cool-down, the sensory rooms offer AC and quiet, and the Bo Black Family Fountain is a great place for kids to splash.
Be sure to plan your arrival carefully—many free admission promotions only run for a few hours, and you’ll need to be at the gate on time (or a little early) with any required donations.
