Dave’s Hot Chicken Plans Opening in Former Arby’s

Hot chicken is headed to Port Washington Road.

Dave’s Hot Chicken plans to open at 5260 N. Port Washington Road in Glendale, taking over the former Arby’s building.

According to an October 9 report from the Milwaukee Business Journal, the restaurant is targeting a November 12, 2026, soft opening, followed by a November 13 grand opening. It will also feature the chain’s first Wisconsin drive-thru.

What is Dave’s Hot Chicken?

Dave’s specializes in chicken tenders and sliders with customizable spice levels, accompanied by sides such as seasoned fries, kale slaw and mac and cheese.

The company began in 2017 when four friends pooled $900 to launch a chicken stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. That small operation grew into the restaurant brand now expanding around Wisconsin.

Does everything have to be spicy?

A drive-thru addition to Port Washington Road

The Glendale restaurant will be operated by MR Chicken LLC, the Dave’s franchise business associated with Milwaukee-based Roaring Fork Restaurant Group.

The Business Journal reports that the former Arby’s drive-thru infrastructure helped make the property attractive to the operator. For North Shore families, that could mean another option for picking up dinner between activities.
