Outdoor Movies Guide 2026 Near Milwaukee’s North Shore
Summer isn't over yet, and there are still several chances to catch a movie outside around Milwaukee and the North Shore.
From weekly Family Flicks at BAYSHORE to movies under the stars at Veterans Park and Brown Deer Village Park, outdoor movies remain one of our favorite inexpensive summer activities. Most are free, and several still have screenings scheduled through late August.

BAYSHORE Family Flicks at The Yard
Where: The Yard at BAYSHORE, 5800 N. Bayshore Drive, Glendale
When: Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.
Season: June 10-August 26, 2026
Admission: FREE
BAYSHORE's Family Flicks remains the most consistent outdoor movie option on Milwaukee's North Shore, with a free movie every Wednesday evening throughout the summer.
The remaining 2026 schedule:
August 12: Coco
August 19: Little Giants
August 26: Monsters University
Families can bring lawn chairs and blankets and settle into The Yard for the movie on the big screen. Alcohol carry-ins and animals are prohibited.
If you're making an evening of it, BAYSHORE's restaurants make it easy to grab dinner before or during the movie.

Brown Deer Summer Scenes
Where: Village Park, 4920 W. Green Brook Drive, Brown Deer
Admission: FREE
Movies: Begin at dusk
Brown Deer's Summer Scenes series returned to Village Park for its fourth year in 2026, with three free outdoor movies spread across the summer.
The first two screenings — A Minecraft Movie on June 26 and The Little Rascals on July 17 — have already passed, but there's one more family movie coming up:
Friday, August 21: Zootopia 2
The movie starts at dusk, and concessions are available. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and make yourself comfortable in Village Park.
Brown Deer also hosts its Community Vibes music series and other events at the park throughout the summer.
Check Brown Deer Parks & Recreation's current special-events schedule before heading out.
Summer Night Movies at Veterans Park
Where: Gift of Wings at Veterans Park, 1300 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, Milwaukee
Admission: FREE
Movies: Begin at dusk
Here's another event that deserves a spot on the list: Gift of Wings hosts a four-movie Summer Night Movies series along Milwaukee's lakefront.
The final screening of the 2026 season is:
Saturday, August 22: Jurassic World
Activities begin around 6:40 p.m., with the movie starting at dusk.
Bring blankets or lawn chairs and find a spot on the grass overlooking the lakefront. Gift of Wings also advertises movie-night popcorn for just $1.
Veterans Park is particularly fun for families who want to arrive early. The park has wide-open green space, access to the Oak Leaf Trail, a lagoon with pedal-boat rentals and plenty of room for kids to run around before the movie.
Check the official Milwaukee County Parks event listing for weather or schedule updates.
Deer District MKE Film Series
Where: Deer District, downtown Milwaukee
For older kids, teens and adults, Deer District has also been showing movies outdoors this summer.
The August schedule includes:
August 6: Wedding Crashers — completed
August 13: Superbad
This is a different vibe from BAYSHORE and Brown Deer's family-focused movie nights: both August selections are R-rated comedies, so this isn't the series we'd choose for younger children.
Still, it's a fun addition for parents looking for an outdoor date night or families with older teens.
Check Deer District for current event information.
Mequon Community Pool Movie
Mequon also got in on the outdoor-movie fun earlier this summer with a free movie event behind the Mequon Community Pool at Rennicke Field on June 26.
That event has passed, and we haven't found another confirmed Mequon outdoor movie for the remainder of the 2026 season.
For other pool and park activities, check Mequon's Parks & Recreation information.
What About Whitefish Bay and Shorewood?
We haven't found a confirmed public outdoor movie remaining on the Whitefish Bay or Shorewood municipal calendars for summer 2026.
Fortunately, North Shore families don't have to travel far: BAYSHORE's weekly screenings in Glendale are only minutes away, and Brown Deer's Aug. 21 screening gives families another nearby option.
We'll update this guide if another late-summer movie is announced.
Worth the Drive: More Outdoor Movies Around Milwaukee
If you don't mind venturing beyond the immediate North Shore, keep an eye on community movie nights throughout the Milwaukee suburbs.
Menomonee Falls hosts its popular Falls Family Movie Night series at Village Park, typically combining outdoor movies with food, entertainment and other activities.
Milky Way Drive-In at Ballpark Commons in Franklin isn't technically a traditional movie-in-the-park event, but it offers the classic drive-in experience throughout the warmer months and can be a fun alternative if you've already hit the free North Shore screenings.
What to Bring to an Outdoor Movie
A little preparation makes outdoor movie night much more comfortable:
Lawn chairs or blankets: Seating generally isn't provided.
Bug spray: Especially important once the sun goes down.
Sweatshirts or light jackets: August evenings near Lake Michigan can get surprisingly cool.
Snacks and drinks: Check each event's carry-in rules first.
A picnic dinner: An easy way to turn a free movie into an inexpensive family night.
Cash or card: Some events have concessions, food trucks or nearby vendors.
Flashlight: Helpful for packing everything up after dark.
For movies beginning at dusk, arriving 30-60 minutes early usually gives you time to find a good spot and let the kids burn off some energy before the movie begins.
Our Picks for the Rest of Summer
For North Shore families, BAYSHORE is still the easiest choice because of its Glendale location and three remaining Wednesday screenings.
If you want a more traditional movie-under-the-stars experience, circle Brown Deer's Zootopia 2 on August 21. Village Park gives it the classic blanket-on-the-grass feel, and it's an especially good choice for younger families.
And for one last lakefront summer night, Veterans Park's Jurassic World on August 22 combines a free movie with one of Milwaukee's best outdoor settings.
That gives families several more chances to squeeze an outdoor movie into the final weeks of summer — without spending much more than the cost of popcorn.
