Costumes, candy and a trip to the Zoo: Boo at the Zoo returns to Milwaukee County Zoo for two weekends in October 2026. New this year, Saturdays begin in the morning, giving families more time to explore before the evening lights.
2026 Dates and Hours
Friday, October 16 and 23: 4:30–9 p.m.
Saturday, October 17 and 24: 9:30 a.m.–9 p.m.
Location: Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Bluemound Road, Milwaukee.
Trick-or-Treating and Family Fun
Bring your own treat bag for six candy stops along the Adventure Africa trail. Look for teal pumpkins for allergy-friendly options.
The lineup includes pumpkin carving, the Harvest Haystack Maze, Mad Science demonstrations, light shows and roaming stiltwalkers. Saturday adds a costume contest for kids ages 12 and under and themed family groups: register from 9:30 a.m.–1 p.m., with awards at 2 p.m.
Animals, Rides and Food
The Aviary closes at 3:30 p.m.; other animal buildings remain open during the evening. Outdoor animals are not viewable at night, so choose daytime Saturday hours if animal viewing is a priority.
The Train to Transylvania costs $5 plus tax, and the carousel costs $3 plus tax, weather permitting. Food and seasonal treats are available for purchase. Check the official activities and food schedule for animal enrichment times and entertainment.
Tickets and Member Savings
Tickets are available online only. Admission starts at $18 for adults and $16 for children ages 3–12; ages 2 and under are free. Parking is included.
On Saturdays, October 17 and 24, everyone needs Boo at the Zoo admission. Regular admission and Zoo Pass membership alone are not valid.
Zoo Pass members save 15% through the member ticketing portal. Create an account, sign in and select Special Event Tickets; the discount is applied automatically. The old discount code is no longer needed.
