Best Coffee Shops in Door County: A Guide for 2026
Coffee just seems to taste better in Door County.
Maybe it’s the slow mornings, the waterfront views or the fact that a coffee stop can easily turn into the beginning of an entire day of exploring. Whatever the reason, Door County has developed a great coffee scene, ranging from serious small-batch roasters and espresso bars to Scandinavian bakeries, breakfast cafés and even a play café designed with parents and young kids in mind.
This guide covers our favorite coffee shops and places to grab coffee from Sturgeon Bay north through Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, Ephraim, Sister Bay, Baileys Harbor and Ellison Bay, plus Washington Island.

Sturgeon Bay
If you're staying in Sturgeon Bay — or simply need caffeine before heading farther north — you have several excellent options.
5th and Jefferson Coffee House

Set inside a converted house, 5th and Jefferson feels more like visiting an eccentric friend's home than walking into a conventional coffee shop.
Different rooms offer plenty of spots to settle in, while the garden patio is particularly inviting in warm weather. Coffee and espresso drinks are joined by baked goods and a larger breakfast and lunch menu.
This is a particularly good choice when you aren't in a hurry.
Best for: Atmosphere, breakfast and lingering over coffee.
Lawlss Coffee

Lawlss is one of our first recommendations for visitors who really care about specialty coffee.
The modern shop serves espresso drinks, seasonal creations, matcha, tea, smoothies and other drinks. It's a good contrast to some of Door County's more traditional cafés and bakeries.
Best for: Specialty coffee and creative drinks.
Pinky Promise Coffee
60 S. Madison Ave., Sturgeon Bay
Pinky Promise is both a coffee shop and local roaster, making it another excellent Sturgeon Bay destination for coffee lovers.
Grab an espresso drink or flavored latte while you're there, and consider taking a bag of locally roasted beans home.

Kick Coffee

Kick Coffee is a dependable downtown stop serving Colectivo coffee alongside baked goods and breakfast and lunch options.
Its Third Avenue location makes it especially easy to combine with shopping and a walk around downtown Sturgeon Bay.
Best for: A convenient downtown coffee stop.
The Gnoshery
The Gnoshery isn't strictly a coffee shop, but families should know about it.
The café combines food and drinks with a large collection of board games families can play at their tables. On a rainy or cold Door County day, that makes it a particularly useful place to keep in your back pocket.
Best for: Kids, teens, board games and rainy days.
Scaturo's Baking Co. & Cafe
19 Green Bay Road, Sturgeon Bay
If your family wants a substantial breakfast more than a third-wave coffee experience, Scaturo's is worth knowing.
The longstanding bakery and café opens early and has a big bakery case alongside breakfast, lunch and coffee.

Carlsville

Door County Coffee & Tea Co. is more than somewhere to grab a cup of coffee. It's practically a Door County attraction.
The Carlsville roastery has been roasting coffee onsite since 1993 and offers a café, bakery, espresso bar, gift shop and a huge selection of flavored and traditional coffees.
You can sit down for breakfast or lunch, shop for Door County gifts or take coffee home for later. The company also offers behind-the-scenes Coffee 101 tours on select dates.
If you're visiting Door County for the first time, this is one of the easiest coffee stops to recommend.

Pink Bakery
Pink Bakery

Pink Bakery is a great stop when the baked treat matters just as much as the coffee.
The downtown Egg Harbor bakery serves espresso and specialty coffee drinks alongside a big selection of homemade pastries, sticky buns, scones, cookies, cupcakes, pies and other sweets. It's tucked behind Salute Wine & Beer Lounge and next to Main Street Market, making it easy to add to a morning walking around downtown Egg Harbor.
Pink Bakery has also been recognized as a favorite local bakery, and its pastry case makes this one of the stronger coffee-and-dessert combinations in the village.
Best for: Espresso, pastries, donuts and satisfying a Door County sweet tooth.
Fika Bakery & Coffeehouse

Fika takes its name from the Swedish tradition of pausing for coffee, something sweet and conversation — which is pretty much the ideal Door County vacation philosophy.
The Scandinavian-inspired bakery is known for scratch-made pastries including cardamom-forward baked goods, rolls, danishes and other treats alongside coffee.

Cupola Cafe
Cupola Cafe combines coffee with European-influenced baked goods in Egg Harbor's historic Cupola House.
If you'd rather pair your coffee with something flaky and buttery than a breakfast sandwich, this is one to remember.

Village Cafe

Village Cafe is a full restaurant rather than a coffeehouse, but it's useful for families because you can get espresso drinks and coffee alongside an actual sit-down breakfast.
Breakfast is served throughout the day, and the café's baked goods — including its coffee cake — provide another reason to stop.

Fish Creek
Coffee in Fish Creek pairs naturally with a morning at Peninsula State Park, shopping downtown or walking along the waterfront.
Blue Horse Beach Cafe

Blue Horse has one of the best coffee-shop locations in Door County.

Ephraim
Ephraim may have the strongest one-two coffee combination of any small village in Door County.
Ephraim Coffee Lab

Ephraim Coffee Lab should be near the top of your list if the quality of the coffee itself matters most.
The shop is home to Isely Coffee Roasters and serves traditional espresso drinks from a manual lever espresso machine, along with single-origin drip coffee, pour-over, nitro and flash-chilled cold brews.
This is not simply a tourist-town café that happens to serve coffee. Coffee is the reason to come.
Best for: Coffee enthusiasts, espresso and pour-over.
Leroy's Water Street Coffee

Leroy's Water Street Coffee returned to Ephraim in 2025 and is open again for the 2026 season.
The menu includes drip coffee, espresso, cortados, cappuccinos, lattes, cold brew, matcha, chai and other drinks, plus bakery items.
Its Water Street location makes it easy to grab a drink and wander along Eagle Harbor.
Best for: A classic coffeehouse stop near the Ephraim waterfront.
Sister Bay

happy coffee is one of Sister Bay's best all-around coffee stops.
The family-owned café serves locally roasted small-batch coffee, house-made syrups, pastries and made-to-order breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
Another advantage: happy coffee is open year-round and currently opens at 6:30 a.m., making it a particularly useful stop when you're getting an early start.
Best for: A true coffee-shop experience and early mornings.
Analog Ice Cream and Coffee

Analog may be the easiest sell in this entire guide when you're traveling with children.
Adults can grab Anodyne coffee or espresso while the kids choose Wisconsin ice cream. There are also baked goods and other drinks.
Everyone wins.

Brown Butter Bakeshop

Brown Butter is first and foremost an artisan bakery, but coffee drinkers shouldn't overlook it.
The from-scratch bakery specializes in European-inspired pastries and seasonal brioche creations and also serves specialty espresso drinks.

Zero Sum

Zero Sum is an especially useful stop for gluten-free families.
The completely gluten-free café serves Isely Coffee alongside waffles, muffins, smoothie bowls, juices, pastries and other breakfast and lunch items, with vegan and dairy-free choices available too.

Rad House Cafe
Parents of younger children should put Rad House on their radar.
The Sister Bay business has expanded into Door County's first play café, creating a space where parents and caregivers can enjoy coffee while younger kids have space to play and interact.
For families who have ever attempted to drink a hot cup of coffee while entertaining a toddler, this may be one of the smartest concepts in Door County.
Best for: Parents, toddlers and preschoolers.
Sip
Sip is another good choice when your group doesn't all want the same thing. It serves specialty coffee drinks alongside breakfast, lunch and dinner, and its adjoining retail space gives you something to browse while you're there.

Baileys Harbor
If you're exploring the Lake Michigan side of Door County, Baileys Harbor has an excellent coffee stop to pair with Cave Point County Park, Whitefish Dunes or the Ridges Sanctuary.
Roost + Banter

One important 2026 update: the former Bearded Heart coffee-shop location is now home to Roost + Banter.
The community-owned, female-operated café serves espresso drinks, lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, flat whites and cold brew along with house-made bakery items, breakfast and lunch.
It currently opens at 7 a.m. every day, making it an excellent launching point for an East Side adventure.
Best for: Early mornings, breakfast and coffee before Cave Point.
Jacksonport
Town Hall Bakery
Town Hall Bakery is more traditional Door County bakery than specialty espresso bar, but sometimes all you need is coffee and something sweet before continuing up Highway 57.
It's a convenient stop if you're heading toward Cave Point, Whitefish Dunes or Baileys Harbor.
Best for: An old-fashioned bakery stop.
Ellison Bay and Northern Door County
Don't assume the coffee options disappear when you get north of Sister Bay.
Ellison Bay actually has several particularly interesting places to choose from.
Kick Ash Door County

Kick Ash is one of Door County's most memorable coffee stops.
Located in a former church, the shop combines locally roasted coffee with a completely gluten-free bakery, granola, books and locally made goods.

Brew Coffeehouse

Brew feels like a classic small-town coffeehouse.

Cuesta Coffee
Cuesta brings a different personality to the northern peninsula, with espresso drinks, Wisconsin-roasted coffee, music and a rotating food menu.
A turntable and disco ball help make it feel very different from the traditional Door County bakery experience.

Blue Bear Ellison Bay
Blue Bear is primarily a breakfast and brunch restaurant, but its specialty coffee program earns it a spot in this broader guide.

Red Cup Coffee House

Red Cup has been serving Washington Island since 2000 and has become one of the island's established gathering places.
