Step Aboard the Tall Ships in Port Washington
From July 24–27, 2025, the shores of Port Washington will once again welcome the majestic Tall Ships—and you don’t want to miss this rare experience. The last time these historic vessels visited was in 2014, and their return promises to bring four days of maritime magic to this charming lakefront town, just a short drive from Milwaukee’s North Shore.
A Floating Museum Meets Family Fun
The Tall Ship Experience offers something for every member of the family—from kids fascinated by pirates to adults drawn to the romantic beauty of a sunset cruise. You can climb aboard and explore the decks during a self-guided Deck Tour, or choose from several Daytime Sail and Twilight Sail options aboard three beautifully restored ships:
Appledore IV
Liberty Clipper
When and If
Each ship has a rich story and offers a unique way to experience the lakefront views and history of Port Washington’s harbor.
What to Expect
Daytime Sails (1.5 hours) run from morning to late afternoon. These family-friendly excursions are great for all ages and give you a breezy, panoramic view of the coastline.
Twilight Sails (2 hours) take place around sunset, offering a more serene and romantic experience as the sky lights up over Lake Michigan. Perfect for couples or those looking for a peaceful evening adventure.
Deck Tours are also available throughout the weekend, letting you explore these magnificent ships while docked at the scenic Coal Dock Park and Rotary Park.
