Nominate Shorewood’s 4th of July Parade Grand Marshal
Shorewood’s Fourth of July parade doesn’t just happen on patriotic vibes and candy tosses alone—it runs on community energy. And the Shorewood Foundation is officially looking for the person (or people) who best represent that spirit.
Each year, the Shorewood Foundation honors a Shorewood resident by naming them the Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshal—a role reserved for someone who embodies a neighborly spirit and helps make life in the village better in real, tangible ways.
How to nominate someone
If someone in your orbit is the type who shows up, steps up, and quietly makes Shorewood work, now’s your moment.
Nominations are due by Sunday, February 22 and must be submitted via email to:
theshorewoodfoundation@gmail.com
Subject line: Parade Marshal
In the body of the email, write 500 words or less explaining how your nominee:
embodies neighborly spirit, and/or
contributes to the quality of life in Shorewood
Think: the person who organizes the block, volunteers without being asked, mentors kids, helps seniors, improves public spaces, builds community traditions, or makes people feel like they belong here.
Make sure your nominee is willing and available on July 4. The Grand Marshal(s) must be able to participate in the day’s festivities, so the Foundation is asking nominators to confirm availability ahead of time.
What happens next
The Shorewood Foundation’s board of directors will review nominations and select the Marshal(s) at its March board meeting.
So yes: this is your official excuse to send a wholesome email about someone who deserves a little spotlight.
If your neighborhood has a person who’s basically a community utility player (in the best way), this is how you tell Shorewood: “That one. That’s the legend.”
