The 44th annual German Fest returns to Henry Maier Festival Park from Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26, 2026. The lakefront celebration brings together German food, music, dancing, cultural activities, family entertainment and plenty of opportunities to raise a stein.
Children 12 and younger are always admitted free with an adult, while active military members, veterans, guests with disabilities and Sunday food-drive donors may also qualify for complimentary admission.

German Fest describes itself as the largest German Fest in the United States and one of the largest German festivals in North America. The festival has been a Milwaukee lakefront tradition since 1981.

Children age 12 and younger receive free admission every day when accompanied by an adult.
There is no special promotional window to remember. Families can use the offer Friday, Saturday or Sunday during normal festival hours.
For a household with two adults and two children 12 or younger, that immediately reduces the regular gate cost from $80 to $40. Choosing Friday reduces the family’s total admission cost to only $10.
Active Military Personnel and One Companion Enter Free
Active military personnel receive free admission all day, every day of German Fest with an active military ID.
The offer includes one companion and applies to all branches of the military, National Guard and Reserves. German Fest also includes Department of Defense military and civilian personnel in its stated eligibility rules.
A military household with one eligible service member, one companion and two children age 12 or younger could therefore enter at no charge.

Veterans receive free admission throughout German Fest weekend with proper identification.

Guests With Disabilities and One Escort Enter Free
German Fest offers free admission to guests with disabilities or physical challenges, along with one escort, all weekend.
The grounds also include the Stephen J. Schwalbe Respite Pavilion, an accessible, climate-controlled space operated by the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of United Spinal Association. The pavilion includes accessible restrooms, an adult changing table, a shower, charging access for wheelchairs and scooters, seating and an area for service dogs.
It is located near the south end of the Miller Lite Oasis area, between the South Gate and Main Gate.
Donate Food Sunday and Enter Free
The most widely available free-admission offer takes place Sunday afternoon in partnership with Hunger Task Force.

For a family with two adults and two children age 12 or younger, the adults can each bring three qualifying cans while the children use the festival’s regular free-child admission. That means the entire family can attend without purchasing tickets.
Be sure to go to the South Gate. The offer is not advertised for the Main Gate or Mid Gate.
Friday Admission Is Only $5 for Everyone
Friday is the easiest low-cost option for visitors who do not qualify for free admission.
General-public admission is only $5 on Friday, July 24. The discounted price applies throughout Friday’s festival hours, from 3 p.m. to midnight.
A family of four with two adults and two children age 12 or younger would pay just $10 total.
Friday also gives families nine hours of potential festival time, although families with younger children may prefer to arrive in the afternoon before the largest evening crowds.
Students and Seniors Pay $10
Students with a valid school ID receive admission for $10.
Adults age 60 and older also pay $10.
Those discounts are especially useful Saturday and Sunday, when regular gate admission is $20. Visitors should bring the appropriate identification rather than relying on a digital photo of an ID.
The Saturday School-Supply Drive Does Not Currently Include Free Admission
German Fest is partnering with Milwaukee Public Schools for a back-to-school supply drive on Saturday, July 25, from noon to 3 p.m. outside the Main Gate.

What to Know Before Entering German Fest
German Fest uses security and carry-in policies established for Henry Maier Festival Park.
Bags larger than 6 by 9 inches must be clear and may not exceed 12 by 12 by 6 inches. Small clutches, wallets and fanny packs no larger than 6 by 9 inches may be opaque.
Backpacks, coolers and most outside food and drinks are prohibited. Exceptions and reasonable accommodations are available for infant supplies, medical equipment, medication and dietary needs. Diaper bags may be clear or opaque but must fit within the stated size limit.
Guests must pass through metal detection and submit bags for inspection.
