How to Get Into Irish Fest 2026 for Free
Milwaukee Irish Fest returns to Henry Maier Festival Park from Thursday, August 13, through Sunday, August 16, 2026.
General admission normally costs $23 through June 30 and $27 beginning July 1, but families have several ways to avoid paying the regular admission price. Some require a donation, volunteer shift or paid 5K registration, while others offer completely free entry for eligible visitors.

1. Volunteer at Irish Fest
Milwaukee Irish Fest relies on more than 4,300 volunteers each year. Volunteers receive an entrance pass for the entire day they volunteer, along with food coupons and other benefits.
Most shifts last approximately four hours. Opportunities include helping in the children’s area, greeting guests, taking tickets, selling merchandise, assisting in the Cultural Village and working at food or beverage stations.
Families can volunteer together, too:
Children younger than 13 may volunteer with a parent or guardian.
Youth ages 13–17 may volunteer independently with a signed permission slip.
Some positions have higher minimum ages or additional requirements.

2. Donate School Supplies on Thursday
On Thursday, August 13, bring school supplies to the area outside the Main Gate and receive free admission to the festival’s Grand Hooley preview night.
Suggested donations include notebooks, markers, backpacks and other classroom supplies. Donations support Hope House of Milwaukee, an emergency shelter and community center.
Keep in mind that Thursday is a preview night, so only part of the festival grounds will be open. Without a donation, Thursday admission is $10.

3. Register for the Arthritis Foundation 5K Run/Walk
The Arthritis Foundation’s annual Run/Walk to Milwaukee Irish Fest takes place Saturday, August 15, at Urban Park, 1070 E. Michigan Street.
The 5K follows Milwaukee’s lakefront and is open to runners and walkers. The event schedule begins with registration and packet pickup at 8 a.m., followed by the run at 10 a.m. and the walk at 10:05 a.m.
Registration includes:
Free admission to Irish Fest
A 2026 event T-shirt
Post-race entertainment
An adult beverage for eligible participants
Costume contests and awards
Although festival admission is included, participation in the 5K requires paid registration or fundraising. Register through the Arthritis Foundation’s official 2026 event page.
4. Donate Food Sunday Morning
One of the easiest family admission offers takes place Sunday, August 16.
Bring at least three nonperishable food items to the South Gate between 8 and 11 a.m. to receive free admission for the day. Donations benefit Hunger Task Force, which recommends healthy nonperishable foods such as canned fruits and vegetables.
The South Gate opens at 8 a.m. The Irish Fest Liturgy for Peace and Justice Choir begins at 9 a.m., followed by Mass at 9:30 a.m. inside the American Family Insurance Amphitheater.
You do not have to attend Mass to use the promotion. Guests who donate food may remain inside the designated South Gate area until the festival opens at 11 a.m. or receive a hand stamp and return later Sunday.

5. Military or Veterans Admission Offer
Milwaukee Irish Fest offers two different military admission promotions in 2026.
Active-duty U.S. military members: Receive free admission plus one guest on any festival day.
U.S. veterans: Receive free admission plus one guest on Sunday, August 16.
Present a valid active-duty military or veteran ID at any festival gate ticket window to receive the complimentary tickets.
6. Donate Irish Music Items
Collectors may receive two free Irish Fest tickets by donating at least 10 original Irish music-related items to the Ward Irish Music Archives.
Accepted items include:
CDs
LPs and 78-rpm records
Cassette tapes
Posters
Sheet music
Songbooks
Items must be originals; photocopies and other reproductions are not accepted. Bring the donation to the Main Gate ticket window to receive the tickets.

7. Children 12 and Younger Get In Free
Children ages 12 and younger receive free admission every day when accompanied by a paying adult. They do not need their own admission tickets.
This is the simplest ongoing savings opportunity for families and applies throughout the four-day festival.
Bonus: Get Irish Fest and State Fair Admission for $24
This option is not free, but it may be the best 2026 deal for families planning to attend both festivals.
