What is Frosty Free Week?
Each year, the Milwaukee County Zoo thanks the community for its support by offering a full week of free daytime admission between Christmas and New Year's. It's the perfect opportunity to bundle up, get outside, and enjoy some quality time with the animals during the quieter winter season.
Dates and Hours
Mark your calendars—hours vary depending on the day:
Weekdays (December 26, 29, 30): 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Weekend (December 27-28): 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
What's Included (and What's Not)
Free admission covers your entry to the zoo grounds during daytime hours. However, a few things still come with regular rates:
Parking: Standard parking fees apply
Concessions: Food and beverages at regular prices
Attractions: Rides and special attractions at regular rates
Wild Lights: This popular evening light display runs separately and requires regular admission
Tips for Your Visit
Dress warmly. December in Wisconsin is no joke—layer up with hats, gloves, and warm boots for the little ones.
Arrive early. Free admission draws crowds, especially on the weekend days with extended hours. Getting there when the gates open gives you the best experience.
Check animal exhibits. Some outdoor animals may have limited visibility during colder weather, but many of the zoo's indoor exhibits remain fully accessible.
Grab lunch before you go. With the shorter weekday hours, packing snacks or eating beforehand ensures you maximize your animal-viewing time.
