Downtown Milwaukee Dog Park Celebrates Grand Opening
Milwaukee is going to the dogs—in the best way possible.
On Tuesday, August 20 at 3 pm, the Downtown Milwaukee Dog Park will officially open with a festive Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, followed by a pet-friendly “Yappy Hour” celebration from 4 pm to 7 pm. This highly anticipated new space at 103 W. Clybourn Street marks a milestone as the first and only public dog park in downtown Milwaukee.
Sponsored by Fromm Family Foods and led by a coalition including Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, and the Historic Third Ward BID #2, the park brings more than 23,000 square feet of fenced-in fun for small and large dogs, complete with water stations and an expanded Riverwalk segment.
After the ceremony, guests and their pups can enjoy beer samples from Foxtown Brewing, live music, food trucks, and giveaways during “Yappy Hour,” which also helps kick off Milwaukee Downtown’s 20th annual Downtown Employee Appreciation Week.
“This park is the result of years of hard work and collaboration,” said Paul Schwartz, Executive Director of BID #2. “It transforms a once underused stretch of the riverfront into a vibrant, connected space for residents, visitors, and of course, their dogs.”
The celebration is open to the public, and dogs are encouraged to attend and be among the first to break in the new park. The dog park will be open daily from 6 am to 10 pm, and access requires a Milwaukee County dog park pass, available online.
Fromm Family Foods is also developing Foxtown Landing on an adjacent parcel—featuring a restaurant, distillery, cocktail lounge, and ballroom event space—set to open in 2027, further transforming the area into a hub of activity and connection.
