Shorewood Memorial Day Program Returns May 24
A long-standing Shorewood tradition honoring America’s fallen service members returns this Memorial Day weekend with music, remembrance and community gathering on the lawn of Shorewood High School.
The 2026 Shorewood Memorial Day Program will take place Sunday, May 24 at 3 p.m. on the front lawn of Shorewood High School. The event is free and open to the public.
Sponsored by the North Shore American Legion Post #331, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #331 and the Shorewood Men’s Club, the annual program brings together veterans, families and neighbors for an afternoon of reflection and patriotic tribute.

Families looking for a meaningful way to spend part of Memorial Day weekend will find a thoughtful community event that blends history, music and remembrance in the heart of Shorewood.
What to Expect
This year’s program will feature a mix of live music, ceremonial performances and remarks from community leaders.
Highlights include:
Musical selections from the Regimental Volunteer Band of Wisconsin, dressed in Civil War uniforms
Appearances by the Sons of the American Revolution in Revolutionary War attire
Bagpipe performances from Celtic Nation Pipes and Drum
Student readers and local speakers
Keynote remarks from Dr. Berdie Cowser, United States Army veteran, who serves with the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans and is the State Commander for the National Association for Black Veterans, Inc.
Organizers say the program is designed for all ages and encourages families to attend together. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
Rain or Shine Event
The ceremony will take place rain or shine. Attendees will also receive a commemorative American flag recognizing the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence while supplies last.
As an added bonus, those attending the program will receive a ticket for a free lunch and dessert at the Brat House immediately following the ceremony. Organizers note that guests must attend the program in person to receive both the flag and food ticket.
