Whitefish Bay 2026 Memorial Day Service at Armory Park

Memorial Day Service

The Whitefish Bay community will gather at Armory Park at 11 a.m. on Memorial Day for the village’s annual Memorial Day service — a longstanding tradition dedicated to honoring the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.

This year’s ceremony will feature keynote remarks from Marine Corps veteran Zach Zdroik, whose deeply personal speech reflects on loss, service, brotherhood, and the meaning behind Memorial Day.

The ceremony will also include several musical performances, including a featured appearance by Philadelphia-based tenor Zachary Taylor, a current Baumgartner Studio Artist with the Florentine Opera Company in Milwaukee.

Taylor has performed with opera companies and symphonies across the country, including Nashville Opera, Pensacola Opera, Opera Carolina, and the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. He earned his Master of Music degree from UNC Greensboro and has quickly become an emerging voice in the opera world. A children’s choir will also perform as part of the morning program.

Another meaningful moment during the service will recognize the family of Anna Robertson, an original member of the historic all-Black WWII Women’s Army Corps unit known as the “Six Triple Eight” (6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion). Robertson, who recently passed away at age 101, was among the trailblazing women whose battalion played a critical role in clearing mail backlogs for U.S. troops during World War II.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for seating and parking near the memorial site at Armory Park.
