Girls Flag Football Coming to the North Shore

A new Girls Flag Football League and camp is coming to the North Shore this fall!

This fall league will be open to girls in two age groups: Grades 2-3 and Grades 4-5.

Neighboring Recreation Departments in Southeast Wisconsin are still finalizing game dates, times, and locations, and details will be updated here.

In addition, a North Shore Girls Flag Football Clinic will be held on:

🗓 Sunday, August 3
🕙 10 am – 12 pm
📍 Nicolet High School
💵 Just $10 to participate

The clinic is open to all skill levels and will cover basic rules, run fun drills, and introduce players to the fast-paced excitement of flag football in a supportive environment.

Flag football is rapidly becoming one of the fastest-growing sports for girls in the U.S. In 2023, participation among girls aged 6–17 surged to approximately 500,000—a 63% increase since 2019 . High school programs are expanding as well, with over 42,000 girls playing in the 2023–24 season, more than doubling the previous year's numbers .

This momentum is opening new doors: 14 states now sanction girls' flag football as a varsity sport, and more colleges are adding programs each year, with the sport set to debut at the 2028 Olympics.

You can find additional details and registration info in the Whitefish Bay Summer Recreation Guide (see page 25), along with additional youth football programs, camps and activities. See more opportunities from the Whitefish Bay Rec League.
