Family Variety Stage
This is a good reset spot for younger kids, with comedy, magic, juggling, hula hoops and interactive performances.

Exploratory Park
A good breather from the midway, with a sandbox, oversized chess, hopscotch, bag toss and a tree-lined playground area.

Giant Slide and SkyGlider
Both are classic State Fair memory-makers. The Giant Slide is a quick win for kids, while the SkyGlider gives families a break from walking and a bird’s-eye view of the grounds.

Wisconsin Building and Dairy Building
The Wisconsin Building is great for local products and an air-conditioned break. The Dairy Building is essential for cream puffs, dairy treats and the full Wisconsin State Fair experience.

Food Highlights for 2026

The 2026 Sporkies and Drinkies finalists include over-the-top foods and non-alcoholic drinks such as Al Pastor Pizza, Deep-Fried Horchata Balls, Birria Flamin’ Bombs, Sweet Lemon Berry Cheese Curds, Bayou Crunch Cup, Porky Puff, Cream City Cone, Tinga Tango Chicharrones, Color-Changing Swamp Juice, Hot Honey Chicken Lemonade, Cookie Butter Coffee Float and Tilt-a-Spritz.

Families can also look for the $11 Meal Deal, available every day at participating vendors, and Crazy Grazin’ Day on Tuesday, August 11.

And yes, cream puffs are still non-negotiable. See our full Cream Puffs at the Wisconsin State Fair guide before you go.

Final Tips for Families

Go early if animals are your priority. Many barns have limited access during shows, and some barns close early on select days.

Choose a weekday if you want lighter crowds. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday all have strong family programming.

Bring a refillable water bottle. Water bottle filling stations are located throughout the grounds.

Plan one anchor activity. Pick one must-do event, then let the rest of the day unfold. The Fair is easier when you are not trying to see everything.

Use the Fair maps. Stop at a Fair Information Center for schedules, food lists, Sporkies and Drinkies maps, Crazy Grazin’ maps and daily updates.

Check the official schedule before leaving. State Fair schedules, policies and entertainment can change.
