2026 Mexican Fiesta Milwaukee: Your Family Guide
Mexican Fiesta returns to Milwaukee’s lakefront Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23, 2026, bringing three days of Mexican food, music, dance, art, traditions and family activities to Henry Maier Festival Park at 200 N. Harbor Drive.
The festival runs noon to midnight all three days and is one of the final major ethnic festivals of Milwaukee’s summer festival season.
If your family has been making the rounds at Festa Italiana, German Fest and Irish Fest, Mexican Fiesta is a great way to close out August. You can also find it — along with dozens of other events around southeastern Wisconsin — in our complete Milwaukee summer festivals guide.

Our Family Pick: Go Friday Afternoon
If you're bringing younger kids, Friday from noon to 3 p.m. is hard to beat.
Not only is admission free, but arriving early generally gives families time to explore the cultural attractions, grab food and see some entertainment before the festival takes on its busier nighttime atmosphere.
Coming from Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Glendale, Fox Point, Bayside or Mequon? The same basic transportation strategies used for Summerfest apply here. Our guide to getting to Henry Maier Festival Park from Milwaukee's North Shore covers parking, transit and other ways to reach the lakefront.
More Than a Festival: Supporting Hispanic Students
Mexican Fiesta is produced by the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation, and education remains central to its mission.
The organization says Mexican Fiesta has been held for more than five decades and that its scholarship efforts, including its collaboration with LULAC Councils of Wisconsin 342 and 343, have awarded more than $1.95 million to help Hispanic students pursue higher education.
That gives families another reason to feel good about attending: the weekend isn't simply a celebration of Mexican culture. It's also connected directly to educational opportunities for students.

2026 Mexican Fiesta Entertainment
Music is a huge part of Mexican Fiesta, with a mix of Mexican and Latin music, mariachi, folklórico and other live performances traditionally spread across the festival grounds.
Mexican Fiesta has added a 2026 Lineup section to its official website, although the complete artist-by-artist schedule was not yet reliably available when we updated this guide on August 8.
We'll update this guide as additional performance times and stages are confirmed. In the meantime, check the official Mexican Fiesta website and Mexican Fiesta's social channels for the newest lineup announcements.
What Families Will Love
Mexican Culture, Art and Traditions
Mexican Fiesta is particularly good at combining entertainment with opportunities for kids to experience Mexican culture.
Expect traditional music and dance, cultural exhibits, artisans, food and other programming celebrating Mexico's history and traditions.
Rather than treating the cultural elements as side attractions, make them part of your family's day. Give kids time to watch a folklórico performance, explore the artwork and crafts, and try something they haven't eaten before.
Fiesta Car & Motorcycle Show
Have a kid who could spend an afternoon looking at cool cars?
The Mexican Fiesta Car & Motorcycle Show returns Saturday, August 22, from 1-6 p.m.
The show brings together custom and vintage vehicles from around the Midwest, including street rods, custom cars, street machines, pickups and motorcycles.
It's included as an attraction for festival-goers, making Saturday an especially appealing day for vehicle-loving kids.
New for 2026: Copa Fiesta Soccer Tournament
One of the most interesting additions this year is Copa Fiesta, powered by Street Dreams Soccer Academy.
The youth soccer tournament runs throughout Mexican Fiesta weekend, August 21-23, at Urban Park, 1070 E. Michigan St., just west of the festival grounds.
Divisions range from 8U through 18U, with Friday evening kickoff matches followed by games Saturday and Sunday.
You can find tournament information on the official Copa Fiesta page.
There's also VolleyFiesta, a grass volleyball tournament held inside the Mexican Fiesta grounds with youth and adult co-ed divisions. Learn more on the VolleyFiesta page.
Mexican Fiesta 5K Run/Walk
Want to earn your tacos?
The third annual Mexican Fiesta 5K Run/Walk, powered by Buena Tierra Run Club, takes place Sunday, August 23 at the Summerfest grounds.
The schedule includes:
8 a.m. — Day-of registration and packet pickup
8:30 a.m. — Program begins
8:45 a.m. — Pre-race stretch
9 a.m. — 5K Run/Walk begins
10 a.m. — Post-race activities
Noon — Mexican Fiesta gates open
Registration includes a participant medal and Fiesta Run/Walk T-shirt. Participants also receive free Mexican Fiesta admission on Sunday while wearing their event shirt.
Proceeds benefit the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation.
Get current registration details through the Mexican Fiesta 5K Run/Walk page.
Food at Mexican Fiesta
Come hungry.
Mexican Fiesta describes its mission as bringing the sound, culture and taste of México to Milwaukee's lakefront, and the food is one of the biggest reasons to visit.
Part of the fun is treating lunch or dinner as an exploration rather than deciding what everyone wants before you arrive. Split a few things, let kids try bites from different vendors, and save room for dessert.
Families with selective eaters can usually find approachable choices alongside dishes for more adventurous eaters.
Our advice: don't eat a big meal before you go.
Sunday Mass and Our Lady of Guadalupe Procession
One of Mexican Fiesta's most distinctive traditions takes place Sunday morning.
The Mass and Lakefront Procession with Our Lady of Guadalupe takes place Sunday, August 23.
10:30 a.m. — Holy Mass
Principal celebrant: Rev. Ricardo Martín
BMO Pavilion
Gate 10 will be open for Mass from 10-11:30 a.m., and Mass admission is free.
Then at 12:15 p.m., the Lakefront Procession with Our Lady of Guadalupe begins near the lakefront side of the Water Street Brewery building at the south end of the grounds.
The Our Lady of Guadalupe sanctuary will also be open from noon-10 p.m. throughout all three days of Mexican Fiesta.
Families interested in the religious and cultural traditions surrounding the festival may find Sunday morning especially meaningful.
Practical Tips for Families
Go early with little kids. The festival runs until midnight, but families don't need to treat it like an all-day endurance event. An afternoon visit can give kids plenty of time for food, culture and entertainment.
Use Friday's free window. Free admission from noon-3 p.m. Friday makes this one of the better festival deals remaining on Milwaukee's summer calendar.
Buy ahead if you're going later. Presale admission is $22 compared with $28 at the gate, so a family with multiple paid admissions can save quickly.
Kids 8 and under are free. That's another significant advantage for families with younger children.
Understand re-entry. Mexican Fiesta allows re-entry under specific conditions, but no re-entry is permitted after 9 p.m. Check the current policy before leaving the grounds.
Plan transportation before leaving home. Parking around Milwaukee's lakefront can get busy during major festivals. See our Summerfest grounds transportation and parking guide for options.
Is Mexican Fiesta Worth It for Families?
We think so — particularly if you approach Mexican Fiesta as a cultural experience rather than simply another Milwaukee festival.
Kids can hear live music, watch traditional dance, explore Mexican art and traditions, see custom cars, try new foods and experience a celebration that's deeply connected to Milwaukee's Hispanic community.
And because festival proceeds help support the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation's educational mission, there's a bigger purpose behind the celebration.
For families, our first choice would be Friday afternoon to take advantage of the free noon-3 p.m. admission window. If your kids love cars, choose Saturday for the Car & Motorcycle Show. Runners and families interested in the Mass and Our Lady of Guadalupe procession should consider Sunday.
