Fox Point Opens Historic Grounds for 100th Celebration

Chipstone Grounds

One of Fox Point’s most distinctive properties will welcome the public for a special afternoon of history, art and outdoor exploration.

The Fox Point Showcase will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, on the grounds of the Chipstone Foundation, 7820 N. Club Circle. The free event is the final fall celebration marking the Village of Fox Point’s centennial year.

Visitors can explore Chipstone’s landscaped grounds, learn about Fox Point’s history and architecture, view art inside the Carriage House and bring an old-fashioned picnic to enjoy on the lawn. Croquet, complimentary lemonade and giveaways will add to the vintage garden-party atmosphere.

Historical book release

The celebration will include the release of Discover Fox Point, a historical book created for the village’s centennial. Complimentary copies will be distributed while supplies last, and author Douglas H. Frazer will be available to sign books.

Historical Fox Point displays will also help visitors learn more about the community’s first 100 years.

Art tours and architecture presentations

Curated 45-minute tours will take visitors inside Chipstone to explore its art and furniture collection. Four tours will be offered across two time slots at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Each tour is limited to 12 participants and is open to visitors ages 14 and older. Advance registration is required for the Chipstone tours.

Matthew Amman will also present programs about Fox Point’s mid-century modern architecture at noon and 1 p.m. near the Centennial tent. Registration is not required for the outdoor presentations.
