Fox Point Moves to Lower New Pool Fundraising Goal to $3.3 Million, Extend Deadline to 2030
The path toward a potential new community pool in Fox Point changed significantly this month.
After reviewing an updated analysis of construction costs, operating expenses, partnerships and financing options, the Fox Point Village Board directed Village staff on Sept. 8 to prepare a new resolution that would lower the private fundraising target for a replacement municipal pool from $4 million to $3.3 million and extend the fundraising deadline to February 2030.
That does not mean Fox Point has approved construction of a new pool.
It also does not mean the $3.3 million fundraising requirement is final yet.
Instead, the Sept. 8 action directs staff to draft a new resolution incorporating those terms and bring it back to the Village Board for formal consideration, potentially as soon as its October meeting.
Still, after years of discussion about what — if anything — should replace the former Fox Point Municipal Pool, the decision represents one of the clearest changes yet to the Village's approach.
The old framework required private supporters to raise $4 million before the Village would contribute another approximately $4 million toward construction.
Now the Board appears prepared to reconsider that formula.

What the Village Board decided
Going into the Sept. 8 meeting, Village staff presented several potential paths.
The Board could have maintained its existing policy, stopped pursuing a pool, moved the project into a future capital budget, considered a referendum or changed the amount that must be raised privately.
Board members chose the last option.
Their direction to staff was to prepare a replacement resolution using a $3.3 million private fundraising goal and a February 2030 fundraising deadline.
That's a $700,000 reduction from the existing $4 million requirement.
It also gives the fundraising campaign significantly more time to demonstrate whether the community can generate enough private support to make the project viable.
But there's an important distinction: the Board did not formally adopt that new fundraising framework Sept. 8.
Staff still needs to prepare the actual resolution, which will return to the Village Board for another vote.
Fox Point's next regularly scheduled Village Board meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, although the October agenda has not yet been published and the pool item should not be considered officially scheduled until it appears there.
