Free Rain Barrel Workshop in Fox Point

Rain barrel

It’s time to… roll out the barrel! The rain barrel, that is.

North Shore residents can learn practical ways to manage stormwater runoff while earning a free rain barrel at an upcoming workshop hosted by Fox Point Green Summer.

The free educational session will take place Wednesday, July 23rd, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the North Shore Library. Participants will discover how rain barrels and other green infrastructure can help protect local waterways while reducing stormwater management challenges on their properties.

Registration is available online.

The workshop, presented by the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) and Fresh Coast Guardians, will cover installation, usage, and maintenance of rain barrel systems. Each participating household is eligible to receive one complimentary rain barrel, though registration is required due to limited availability.

MMSD representatives will also be available at the Fox Point Farmers Market on Friday, July 19th, to discuss stormwater management strategies, demonstrate rain barrel functionality, and distribute free native plants to residents.

The initiative supports broader community efforts to implement sustainable water management practices throughout the North Shore area.
