Above & Beyond Children's Museum offers Free Day of Play

Above & Beyond Children's Museum

Sheboygan's Above & Beyond Children's Museum is offering a special opportunity. On Tuesday, December 2, the museum is opening its doors completely FREE to all families as part of their Giving Tuesday celebration.

Above & Beyond Children's Museum is transforming Giving Tuesday into something special - they're giving back to the community with complimentary admission for all visitors. This free day of play isn't just about fun (though there will be plenty of that across three floors of interactive exhibits) - it's about raising awareness and funds for their expanded Museums For All program.

The museum believes that play should have no limits, regardless of a family's financial situation. As Executive Director Cate Tinker explains, "Play isn't just fun - it's essential. But for too many families in Sheboygan, the rising costs of goods stand in the way of museum exploration."

Beyond the regular museum exhibits, TDS is sponsoring a special Frosty Physics Play Lab from 10-11 AM. This STEAM-based program promises hands-on learning disguised as winter-themed fun - perfect for curious kids who love science experiments.

With the Museums For All program offers incredible discounts for qualifying families. If you're enrolled in programs like SNAP/FoodShare, Medicaid, WIC, BadgerCare Plus, or other qualifying assistance programs, you can visit the museum any day for just $3 per person (regular admission is $10).

Even better, sliding scale yearly memberships start at just $30 for qualifying families, compared to the regular $125 starting price. Currently, 30-35% of the museum's members participate in this program, showing just how vital this accessibility initiative has become for the community.

Jenny and Trevor Tanck, significant donors to the Museums For All program, recently made a donation to help expand access. "We believe there should be no limitation on play for all ages and stages," they shared, recognizing the growing need in the community.

Museums For All is a national initiative through the Association of Children's Museums and Institute of Museum and Library Services, with over 1,500 museums participating nationwide. The program helps broaden museum access to underserved communities, ensuring that all children have opportunities to explore, create, and connect through play.
