Shorewood School District Calendar 2026–2027
Whether you’re arranging child care, planning a family vacation or simply trying to stay ahead of conference weeks, it helps to have the Shorewood School District calendar in one place.
Below are the major dates from Shorewood’s official 2026–2027 instructional calendar, which was finalized by the Shorewood Board of Education on December 9, 2025.

Key district dates and academic milestones for the 2026–2027 school year.
First Day of School
Tuesday, September 1, 2026
September 1 is the first instructional day for students across Shorewood’s schools:
Atwater Elementary School
Lake Bluff Elementary School
Shorewood Intermediate School
Shorewood High School
No-School Days
The district calendar lists the following no-school days for all students in grades 4K–12:
September 7: Labor Day
September 21: Yom Kippur
October 16: Fall conferences
November 6: Staff in-service
November 25–27: Thanksgiving break
December 23–January 1: Winter break
January 18: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
January 22: Staff in-service
February 19: Staff in-service
March 5: Spring conferences
March 10: Eid al-Fitr
March 22–26: Spring break
April 30: Staff in-service
May 28: Staff in-service
May 31: Memorial Day
Some additional conference closures only affect younger students. Those exceptions are explained below.
Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences
Shorewood’s fall conference schedule runs October 13–16, but the associated closures are different for each grade range:
Wednesday, October 14: No school for 4K students
Thursday, October 15: No school for grades 4K–6
Friday, October 16: No school for grades 4K–12
Students in grades 7–12 therefore continue attending school October 14 and 15, while younger students have additional days off.
Families with children in multiple buildings should check their individual school’s conference schedule before arranging child care.
Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving break runs Wednesday, November 25, through Friday, November 27.
Classes resume Monday, November 30, unless an individual school communicates a separate schedule change.
Winter Break
Winter break begins Wednesday, December 23, and continues through Friday, January 1.
Classes resume Monday, January 4, 2027.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Semester Break
Students have no school Monday, January 18, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Friday, January 22, is also a no-school day for grades 4K–12 because of staff in-service. It marks the end of the first semester.
Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences
Spring conferences run March 2–5, again with different closure dates by grade:
Wednesday, March 3: No school for 4K students
Thursday, March 4: No school for grades 4K–6
Friday, March 5: No school for grades 4K–12
Families should not assume every conference day applies to every Shorewood school. Confirm conference appointments and attendance expectations directly with your child’s building.
Spring Break
Spring break runs Monday, March 22, through Friday, March 26.
Students return Monday, March 29.

Other Academic Milestones
Shorewood uses a combination of quarters, trimesters and semesters, depending on the school and grade level.
Important academic dates include:
November 6: First quarter ends
November 13: First trimester ends
January 22: First semester ends
February 26: Second trimester ends
April 9: Third quarter ends
Families should consult their school for report-card and grading-period details.
Last Day of School
Thursday, June 10, 2027
June 10 is the final instructional day for Shorewood students. Friday, June 11, is a teacher workday.
Shorewood High School graduation is scheduled for Sunday, June 13.
Summer School
Shorewood summer school begins Monday, June 21, and ends Thursday, July 22.
There is no summer school Monday, July 5.
