Youth Volleyball in Milwaukee’s North Shore: Camps, Leagues, Clinics

Youth volleyball

Whether your child is new to volleyball or looking to sharpen their skills in a competitive setting, Milwaukee’s North Shore has plenty of opportunities to bump, set, and spike year-round. From summer camps and beginner clinics to club tryouts and rec leagues, kids in communities like Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Glendale, Mequon, and beyond can find the right fit for their age and experience level. Use this guide to discover local volleyball programs organized by community—so you can sign up, show up, and get in the game.

Shorewood

Shorewood Recreation & Community Services (Shorewood HS/Arena) – The Shorewood Rec Dept offers youth volleyball programs in the summer. For example, the Youth Developmental Program is an introductory camp (one or two weeks in July) that teaches fundamental volleyball skills (serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking) through fun circuits and games. There is also a Middle School Volleyball League (co-ed, grades 6–8) where players form teams of ~10, practice twice weekly, and play weekend games culminating in a tournament. The league emphasizes teamwork and basic skills (bumping, serving, hitting, etc.). (Programs run June–July as part of Shorewood’s summer recreation calendar.)

Whitefish Bay

Whitefish Bay Recreation & Community Education – Youth Volleyball Clinic (Grades 1–8) – A summer clinic led by Whitefish Bay High School coaches, held July 14–24 (Mon–Thu) in the WFB HS Fieldhouse. Players are split by grade into three sessions: Grades 1–3 (12:15–1:15pm), Grades 4–5 (1:30–2:45pm), and Grades 6–8 (3:00–4:30pm). The clinic covers basic and intermediate skills appropriate to each age group: e.g. Sections A1 (Gr.1–3) focuses on the fundamentals (passing, setting, footwork, arm swing and communication), A2 (Gr.4–5) moves through skills quickly in a fun, engaging format (for all skill levels), and A3 (Gr.6–8) introduces beginning competitive techniques via drills and games (hitting, serving, game play)【8†】. Each session meets four days per week, and the program is designed for players at beginner to intermediate levels. (Registration is handled through the Whitefish Bay Schools’ Community & Recreation Dept.)

Whitefish Bay Jr. Dukes Volleyball (WBHS feeder club) – A local youth club for girls (and co-ed “Mini Dukes” for boys) in grades 1–8. The Jr. Dukes emphasize skill development, structured training, and competitive play to prepare players for middle school and high school. Programs include Fall Teams (5th–8th grade girls playing in a regional youth league), Summer Skills Clinics (ongoing camps for 5th–8th girls), Spring Tune-Up Clinics/Tryouts (4th–7th girls in May), and Mini Dukes beginner classes (1st–3rd graders, girls & boys). Athletes must live in or attend school in Whitefish Bay to participate.

Glendale (Nicolet)

Nicolet Recreation Department (Glendale) – Serving Glendale (and the Nicolet HS district communities: Fox Point, Bayside, River Hills), Nicolet Rec runs several summer volleyball programs for youth. In early August they hold Girls Volleyball All-Skills camps at Nicolet HS Fieldhouse – 3-day camps for different age groups (4th–6th grade, 7th–9th, and 10th–12th) focusing on all fundamental skills. In late June and late July they offer specialized day camps (1-hour each day) such as Hitting/Blocking Camp, Setting Camp, and Defense/Serve-Receive Camp for middle/high school girls. All camps include skill stations and game play drills led by high school and club coaches. (Most Nicolet camps run M–Th afternoons.)

360 Volleyball Academy (Glendale) – A club/skills program (run by DHS/Nicolet coaches) offering summer tune-up clinics and tryout prep. In July 2025 they offer multiple one-day Tune-Up Clinics for various age levels (e.g. July 10, 13, 17 at Nicolet HS), plus 3-day Tryout Sessions (U12–U17 age groups on July 19–21 and 26–28) covering all skills and team play. These camps are ideal for aspiring club or high school players looking to refine skills and prepare for upcoming tryouts.

Fox Point

Nicolet Recreation (Fox Point) – Fox Point is in the Nicolet HS district, so its youth enroll in the same programs listed above under Glendale. Fox Point families can join Nicolet Rec volleyball camps and clinics (all offered in nearby Glendale) as well as the 360 Academy programs. In other words, Fox Point students participate in the Nicolet summer camps (All-Skills, skill clinics) and tune-up clinics described above.

River Hills

Nicolet Recreation (River Hills) – River Hills residents are also served by Nicolet Recnorthshorefamilyadventures.com. Youth volleyball opportunities mirror those for Glendale/Fox Point: summer Nicolet camps (all-skills and skill-focused day camps) and 360 Academy sessions. River Hills’ own Rec Dept newsletter often highlights these Nicolet programs (e.g. 360 Academy youth camps). (No separate River Hills volleyball league exists; children join Nicolet’s offerings.)

Bayside

Nicolet Recreation (Bayside) – Bayside youth likewise attend Nicolet Rec programsnorthshorefamilyadventures.com. They can register for the same Glendale/Nicolet summer camps and 360 Academy clinics noted above. (Bayside does not have its own youth volleyball camps beyond this.) In addition, club/camp options like Wisconsin Premier VC in nearby Mequon are readily accessible to Bayside families.

Mequon/Thiensville

Wisconsin Premier Volleyball Club (Mequon) – A prominent local volleyball club and camp provider. In spring they run the Bump & Jump Youth Academy (4-week program) for incoming grades 3–8, split by age: a “Bump & Jump” track for 3rd–5th graders and a Youth Academy for 6th–8th graderswipremiervb.com. Sessions meet on Saturday mornings at Steffen Middle School. In summer WPVBC runs specialized camps: for example, an MS/HS Skills Camp (grades 7–12) on Tuesdays (5:30–7pm) in June/July at Gateway Sports Academy (Saukville)wipremiervb.com, focusing on all-around skill development and gameplay. They also host an 11th Annual Summer Sand Camp for incoming grades 4–12 at Concordia University – a four-week (Mon/Tue) beach volleyball camp in June–July. (This camp splits by age (4th–6th vs 7th–12th) each morning and emphasizes sand play.)

Concordia University Wisconsin (Mequon) – CUW holds volleyball camps on campus for young players. For summer 2025 they list, for example, a Women's Volleyball Skills Day Camp (July 14–16) for incoming 4th–9th graders, and an Elite Overnight Camp for 10th–12th graderscuw.edu. These focus on all fundamental skills (passing, setting, hitting, defense, etc.) under the college coaching staff.

Mequon-Thiensville Rec Dept – The MTSD Recreation Dept publishes seasonal guides (Summer, Fall, Winter/Spring). While not volleyball-specific, they sometimes list youth volleyball classes or small clinics, and often highlight local club camps (such as WPVBC and Concordia) in their activity flyers. Families can check the MTSD “Recreation Department Activity Guide” for any youth volleyball camps or clinics each season (registration usually opens in late winter/early spring).

Beyond the North Shore

In addition to North Shore offerings, families looking to expand their search will find excellent volleyball programs just beyond the immediate area. One standout is Junior Hilltopper Volleyball at Marquette University High School in Milwaukee. Designed for boys in grades 5 through 8, this program focuses on skill development, teamwork, and game fundamentals through a combination of clinics and competitive team play. It’s a great option for younger players considering high school volleyball in the future.

Other regional programs—such as Wisconsin Juniors, Milwaukee Sting, and Milwaukee Elite—offer club-level opportunities for players ready to compete at a higher level, with tryouts typically held in the fall and seasons running through spring.

North Shore Family Adventures

North Shore Family Adventures was created by a dad to two (one boy, one girl), who is always looking for entertainment and activities in all season for his kids. His favorite area hike is Lion’s Den Gorge and favorite biking path is the Oak Leaf Trail. Come explore with us.
