Lake Geneva Fourth of July 2026: Drone Show, Fireworks, Cruises and Where to Watch
This year marks America’s 250th birthday, and the towns around Geneva Lake are treating it like the milestone it is.
The holiday falls on a Saturday, which means a full weekend of shows stretching from Friday night through Sunday. If you time it right, a Milwaukee family can catch multiple displays across Lake Geneva, Fontana, Delavan and Elkhorn without turning the weekend into a long road trip.
One big change to know before you pack the lawn chairs: downtown Lake Geneva’s signature July 4 celebration is a drone light show, not traditional fireworks. If your kids live for the booms, you’ll want Fontana, Delavan, Elkhorn or Grand Geneva instead.

The Headliner: Liberty on the Lake in Downtown Lake Geneva
Saturday, July 4, 2026
Flat Iron Park, 201 Wrigley Drive, Lake Geneva
5–9:30 PM, drone show at 9 PM
Lake Geneva’s main Independence Day event happens at Flat Iron Park, right on the downtown lakefront. Liberty on the Lake is a free community celebration hosted by Visit Lake Geneva, with food vendors, family entertainment, live music and a drone light show over Geneva Lake.
The schedule is simple: food vendors from 5–9 PM, family entertainment from 5–8:30 PM, live music by EZFM from 6–8:30 PM, and the drone light show at 9 PM.
The drone show is designed around America’s 250th birthday, using lights, choreography and storytelling rather than traditional fireworks. That makes it a good option for families with toddlers, kids with sensory sensitivities, or anyone who wants the lakefront spectacle without the full fireworks noise.
Flat Iron Park and nearby Library Park will fill up quickly. Bring blankets or lawn chairs, arrive by late afternoon, and plan to make a full downtown evening out of it. Visit Lake Geneva notes that Wrigley Drive between Broad and Center streets will close beginning at 4 PM, and boat traffic under the drone flight pattern will pause around showtime.
Watching the Lake Geneva Drone Show from the Water
For a splurge, Lake Geneva Cruise Line is running special Fourth of July cruises from the Riviera Docks.
The Liberty on the Lake Drone Show & Boat Cruise departs at 8 PM aboard the Walworth and gives you a lake view of the drone show. It’s an all-ages, two-hour cruise.
Lake Geneva Cruise Line also offers a Fireworks Jazz Dinner Cruise on July 4, departing at 7:30 PM, with dinner, live entertainment and a full cash bar. These holiday cruises tend to sell out, so book ahead if this is your plan.
Traditional Fireworks on July 4: Fontana and Delavan
If your family wants classic fireworks on the Fourth itself, head west.
Fontana-on-Geneva Lake Fireworks
Saturday, July 4, 2026
South Lake Shore Drive, Fontana-on-Geneva Lake
Fireworks at dusk
The Village of Fontana-on-Geneva Lake launches fireworks at dusk from the west end of Geneva Lake. The best viewing spots are Fontana Beach, Reid Park, along the lake’s west-end shoreline, or from a boat on the water.
The show is coordinated through the Geneva Lake West Chamber of Commerce and is funded through private donations, so consider supporting the event if you go. Details are available through the Geneva Lake West Chamber.
Delavan Independence Day Fireworks
Saturday, July 4, 2026
Borg Stadium at Delavan-Darien High School, 1420 Hobbs Drive, Delavan
Family Fest 6:30–9 PM, flag ceremony and fireworks at 9 PM
Delavan is going big for America’s 250th with a full 10-day patriotic celebration from June 26 through July 5. On the Fourth itself, the day includes a pancake breakfast, bike parade, downtown parade, live music, family activities and fireworks.
The main evening event is the #CometNation Family Fest at Borg Stadium and the Delavan-Darien High School grounds from 6:30–9 PM, followed by the City of Delavan Fireworks Display & Flag Ceremony at 9 PM. The flag ceremony is presented by American Legion Post 95.
This is one of the better options for families who want bleachers, a school-campus setting and an easier parking experience than downtown Lake Geneva. Full details are on Visit Delavan’s 250th celebration page.
Friday Night Fireworks: July 3
Friday, July 3 might be the best night of the weekend for families who want fireworks without choosing the Lake Geneva drone show.
Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
Friday, July 3, 2026
7036 Grand Geneva Way, Lake Geneva
Fireworks at dusk
Grand Geneva is hosting its Independence Day celebration on Friday, July 3, with family activities, live music, roaming entertainment and an expanded fireworks display for America’s 250th birthday.
The important fine print: on-property festivities are open only to resort, dining, golf and spa guests, and reservations are required. Grand Geneva’s own event page lists activities including yard games, crafts, a pool bash for lodge guests, live music by The Playlist, glow putting, outdoor dining and fireworks.
For non-guests, Visit Lake Geneva notes that the fireworks may also be viewable from the Geneva Square shopping center parking lot or Veterans Park, but those are not official guaranteed viewing areas. Details are at Grand Geneva’s Independence Day page.
Elkhorn Star Spangled Celebration
Friday, July 3, 2026
Sunset Park, 200 Devendorf Street, Elkhorn
Family activities 5–9 PM, fireworks at dusk
Elkhorn’s Star Spangled Celebration is the classic small-town choice. Expect live music from the Holton Band, kids’ activities, food and snacks from Elkhorn 4-H and Elkhorn FFA, and fireworks at dusk.
It’s free, family-friendly and lower-stress than the downtown Lake Geneva lakefront. Details are listed on the City of Elkhorn fireworks page and Visit Lake Geneva’s summer fireworks roundup.
Lake Geneva Country Club Fireworks
Friday, July 3, 2026
W3398 S. Lake Shore Drive, Lake Geneva
Fireworks at dusk
Lake Geneva Country Club also has fireworks Friday at dusk. The event itself is members-only, but the display can be viewed from the east end of Geneva Lake or from a boat.
Lake Geneva Cruise Line runs a family-friendly Fireworks Tour that night from the Riviera Docks. The Fourth of July cruise page lists Friday fireworks tour options, including 7:30 and 8 PM departures, so check availability before you build your night around it.
Bonus Fireworks: Sunday, July 5 and Later in Summer
Grand Geneva sponsors summer Sunday fireworks from May 31 through August 30, typically around 9–9:15 PM. That means if you stretch your Lake Geneva weekend through Sunday, July 5, there’s one more fireworks display to close out the holiday.
As with July 3, the Sunday shows are for resort guests and those with restaurant or picnic reservations on property, but Visit Lake Geneva notes they may also be viewable from the Geneva Square shopping center parking lot or Veterans Park.
Boaters have another July 4 option northwest of Elkhorn: the Lauderdale Lakes Yacht Club fireworks over Don Jean Bay at 9:30 PM, with patriotic music synchronized on WLKG 96.1 FM. That one is really built for lake access, but it’s a fun local tradition if you’ll be near Lauderdale Lakes.
And mark your calendar for late summer: Lake Geneva’s famous Venetian Festival fireworks happen Sunday, August 23, 2026. The lighted boat parade starts at dusk, with fireworks shortly after over Geneva Bay. Fireworks can be viewed from Library Park, the lakefront, Riviera Beach and Flat Iron Park. Details are at the Lake Geneva Jaycees Venetian Festival fireworks page.
Tips for Milwaukee Families Making the Trip
Lake Geneva is about an hour southwest of Milwaukee and the North Shore, which makes it an easy day trip — but the whole Milwaukee-and-Chicago world knows that too. Expect holiday weekend traffic, especially on Highway 50 and around downtown Lake Geneva.
Arrive by late afternoon, expect to pay for parking, and plan to walk. Pack layers even in July, because lakefront temperatures can drop after sunset.
If crowds are your biggest concern, Elkhorn on July 3 and Delavan on July 4 are your best bets. If you want the lakefront atmosphere, do Lake Geneva’s drone show or Fontana’s fireworks — just build in more time.

Events can shift with weather and final permitting, so confirm details on the Visit Lake Geneva summer fireworks roundup before you load up the car.
