Wisconsin state parks generally require pets to be on a leash no longer than eight feet and under control. Pets are prohibited in certain buildings, picnic areas, playgrounds, beaches and other designated areas. At Whitefish Dunes State Park, dogs may use the designated pet swim area, reached by a walk from the parking lot; they are not allowed on the main beach section from the nature center to the third beach access from April 1 through November 1.
