Whitefish Bay’s Green Day in the Bay is back on Saturday, May 2, 2026, bringing together several community favorites for a morning built around sustainability, service, and spring energy. The Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation lists the event at Klode Park and beyond, with the day centered on Run the Bay, Recycle Day, and an Eco Fair with how-to clinics focused on water conservation.
One of the biggest draws is Run the Bay, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The event takes place at Klode Park and includes a 5K run, 5K walk, and kids races. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m., with packet pickup and race-day registration running from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. Proceeds support the Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation, making this a fun way for families to get active while supporting local schools.
After the race, families can head over to Recycle Day in the Bay, which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Dominican High School parking lot, entered from 5628 N. Bay Ridge. The Village says the drop-off accepts a wide range of items for recycling and reuse, including electronics, books, clothing, bikes, tools, and housewares. It also notes that paint, household hazardous waste, freon-containing appliances, furniture, building materials, scrap metal, and medications will not be accepted this year.
It is designed as a community event where families can spend part of the morning outdoors, learn something practical, and connect with neighbors. The Civic Foundation describes it as an eco-friendly event with an Eco Fair and water-conservation how-to clinics, while the Merchants of Whitefish Bay describe the day as a family-friendly celebration of environmental awareness, water conservation, and sustainable living.
For North Shore families, this is the kind of event that is easy to recommend: kids can burn off energy, parents can finally clear out that growing pile of items in the basement or garage, and everyone can be part of something that feels both useful and community-minded. Whether you come for the run, the recycling, or the eco activities, Green Day in the Bay is a nice way to kick off May in Whitefish Bay.
