Whitefish Bay Plans World Cup Watch Party at Klode Park

World cup

Whitefish Bay may be turning Klode Park into one of the best places in the Milwaukee area to watch the World Cup final this summer.

The Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation has submitted plans for a World Cup Watch Party at Klode Park on Sunday, July 19, 2026, featuring a live DJ, a jumbo screen, food trucks, beer and refreshment stations, and a lakefront lawn full of soccer fans.

The event is expected to be considered by the Whitefish Bay Village Board at its June 15 meeting and would still be subject to final review and approval of the event layout, traffic plan, and staffing by the Village’s Police and Public Works departments.

What to Expect

The proposed event layout is similar to Whitefish Bay’s Fourth of July celebration setup, with the jumbo screen placed along Lake Drive and facing east toward the lake. Spectators would sit on the grass in front of the screen, so families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

The event plans call for six food trucks, beer and refreshment stations throughout the viewing area, picnic tables near the main bar area, and 12 portable toilets near the playground parking lot.

The DJ is scheduled to perform from noon to 2 p.m., giving the event a pregame atmosphere before the World Cup final kicks off at 2 p.m.

Good to Know Before You Go

Because this is expected to be a major community event, there are a few family-friendly notes to keep in mind.

Families should bring chairs or blankets for seating on the grass. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, with food trucks and refreshment stations planned throughout the event area.

The proposed permit conditions also include no vuvuzelas or similar artificial horns, and children would not be allowed to play soccer on the eastern bluff areas. So yes, bring your soccer spirit — but maybe leave the horn section at home.

Why This Could Be a Great Family Event

Klode Park is already one of the North Shore’s most scenic gathering spots, and a World Cup final watch party by the lake has the potential to be a memorable summer day for families.

Between the big screen, food trucks, music, and community atmosphere, this feels like the kind of event where kids can experience the energy of a major sporting event without needing to leave the neighborhood.

If approved, this could quickly become one of the biggest family-friendly events of the summer in Whitefish Bay.

The Whitefish Bay Village Board is scheduled to consider the special event permit and temporary beer license at its June 15 meeting. Final details, including event layout, traffic control, staffing, and any additional conditions, are subject to Village approval.

We’ll update this post as more information becomes available.
