Door County Spas and Resorts: Your 2026 Guide

Door county spas

Door County relaxation looks a little different from the traditional destination-spa experience.

Here, wellness might mean a massage surrounded by woods, an infrared sauna after a day of hiking, a whirlpool suite overlooking Green Bay, or — in perhaps the most Door County experience of all — warming up inside a floating cedar sauna before stepping into the cold waters of Lake Michigan.

The peninsula has a surprisingly deep collection of day spas, romantic inns and family resorts with pools, whirlpools and saunas, making it just as appealing for a couples weekend or girls trip as it is for a family getaway where the adults would appreciate a little downtime.

If you're still deciding which part of the peninsula to make your home base, start with our town-by-town guide to where to stay in Door County or our broader Door County lodging guide.

Sturgeon Bay

Sturgeon Bay has Door County's broadest selection of year-round lodging and is one of the easiest places to plan a winter wellness weekend.

The city doesn't have a giant destination spa attached to a hotel, but several waterfront resorts have pools, hot tubs and saunas, while independent massage and spa businesses provide professional treatments nearby.

Stone Harbor Resort & Conference Center

Stone Harbor Resort sits directly on Sturgeon Bay's downtown waterfront.

Its current amenities include indoor and seasonal outdoor pools, a hot tub, sauna and fitness center, along with the on-site Brygga Plates & Pours restaurant and seasonal waterfront tiki bar. Accommodations range from traditional hotel rooms to larger suites and lofts with kitchens, fireplaces and balconies.

Best for: Families or couples who want a full-service downtown resort and the ability to walk to restaurants and attractions.

Pick: Bridgeport Waterfront Resort

Bridgeport Waterfront Resort may be the strongest Sturgeon Bay option if you're trying to combine family fun with relaxation.

The resort has a large heated indoor pool, whirlpool and a children's splash-play area with zero-depth entry. There's also a seasonal outdoor heated pool with waterfront views.

That setup is especially useful for families with younger kids: they get a legitimate indoor water-play area while adults still have a whirlpool and resort environment.

Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort

Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort sits north of downtown directly on Sturgeon Bay.

The resort offers indoor and outdoor pools, a whirlpool, sauna and fitness facilities, with suites positioned to take advantage of Green Bay-side sunset views.

This is less of a kid-entertainment resort than Bridgeport and more of a quiet waterfront home base.

Best for: Couples and families who value water views and having a full suite.

Chanticleer Guest House

Chanticleer Guest House offers one of the more romantic Door County lodging experiences around Sturgeon Bay.

The wooded property is oriented toward couples rather than families and is known for private suites, fireplaces and whirlpool-style amenities.

For a wellness-focused couples trip, it pairs particularly well with a professional massage appointment elsewhere in Sturgeon Bay.

Where to Get a Massage in Sturgeon Bay

Saguaro Day Spa

Saguaro Day Spa remains one of the best-known dedicated spa destinations in southern Door County.

Destination Door County describes the property as a 6,000-square-foot Southwest-inspired sanctuary, and current tourism listings continue to show it operating at 3899 Old Highway Road.

Rather than relying on an older service menu, contact the spa directly for current massage, skincare and wellness offerings.

Door County Massage

Door County Massage operates locations in both downtown Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor.

The current menu includes customized massage, couples massage, hot stone, prenatal massage, Thai-inspired bodywork, sports massage and other therapeutic treatments. Acupuncture is also available through its Sturgeon Bay partnership with Golden Lotus Acupuncture.

This is a particularly flexible option because you don't need to choose your hotel based on whether it has an attached spa.

Egg Harbor

Egg Harbor is perhaps the best overall community for travelers who want a resort-style Door County vacation with wellness amenities.

It has everything from large family resorts to quiet couples hotels, plus two excellent independent wellness businesses.

The Landmark Resort

The Landmark Resort is one of Door County's largest resort complexes.

The property has multiple swimming pools and whirlpools, and the resort currently lists saunas in each lodging building.

Because accommodations are condo-style, Landmark works particularly well for families and larger groups that need kitchens and separate bedrooms.

Best for: Multi-generational trips and groups that want significant resort amenities without everyone sharing one hotel room.

The Ashbrooke

The Ashbrooke is one of Door County's most couples-oriented hotels.

The important 2026 clarification is that its policy is ages 16 and older, rather than a universal 18+ requirement. Current amenities include a heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, fitness center and outdoor fire features. Several room categories also have private two-person whirlpool tubs and fireplaces.

Best for: Anniversaries, couples weekends and travelers actively trying to avoid the feel of a family resort.

Pick: The Landing Resort

The Landing Resort isn't a full-service spa resort, but its amenities make it a natural fit for a wellness-oriented Egg Harbor stay.

The resort has an indoor pool and whirlpool, along with a seasonal outdoor pool. Its suites include kitchenettes or full kitchens, and the property is close enough to the village that you can walk to restaurants, shops and the waterfront.

It's a particularly practical choice if one part of the family wants a relaxing resort stay while everyone else still wants easy access to Egg Harbor.

Pick: Newport Resort

Newport Resort offers one of the strongest combinations of family amenities and grown-up relaxation in Egg Harbor.

Current amenities include heated indoor and outdoor saltwater pools, an indoor saltwater hot tub, fitness center, children's play areas and a retro arcade. Two-bedroom suites also include Jacuzzi whirlpool tubs.

It's one of our favorite options in this guide for parents who want some resort-style relaxation without choosing a property designed primarily for couples.

Egg Harbor Day Spas

Spa Verde

Spa Verde is a year-round holistic spa in Egg Harbor focused on organic and natural products.

Current services include massage, body treatments, skincare, acupuncture and dry needling. Spa Verde also has an infrared sauna available with massage services.

This is a great option if you're staying at The Landing, Newport, Landmark or another Egg Harbor hotel and want to add an actual spa treatment to the trip.

The Well Nest

The Well Nest Collective Studio at 7896 Highway 42 expands the Egg Harbor wellness scene beyond traditional massage.

The Egg Harbor Business Association currently lists massage, facials, body treatments, yoga, personal training, nutrition, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy and waxing among its offerings.

For a girls weekend or wellness-focused couples trip, having Spa Verde, The Well Nest and Door County Massage all in the same community makes Egg Harbor particularly convenient.

Fish Creek

Fish Creek combines one of Door County's best locations with perhaps its clearest example of lodging and professional spa treatments operating together on the same property.

It also puts Peninsula State Park next door, which makes a massage or sauna particularly appealing after a day of hiking or biking.

See our complete Fish Creek family guide if you're building a longer itinerary.

Settlement Inn & Lavender Spa

Settlement Inn & Lavender Spa is the standout choice for travelers who specifically want professional spa services without leaving their lodging property.

The Lavender Spa operates inside the inn and currently has three upstairs massage rooms, with first-floor accommodation available for guests with mobility restrictions. Treatments are provided by independent therapists, so services and schedules vary. The spa also offers an infrared cedar sauna.

The inn itself adds a seasonal heated outdoor pool and a wooded setting near Fish Creek.

Instead of calling Settlement Door County's “only true spa resort,” we'd describe it more accurately as one of the peninsula's best integrated lodging-and-spa experiences.

Best for: Travelers who don't want to drive somewhere else for their massage.

Pick: Homestead Suites

Homestead Suites has one of the most complete wellness amenity sets among Fish Creek's family-oriented hotels.

The property currently offers an indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna, plus a seasonal outdoor pool and whirlpool. Some suites also have private two-person whirlpool tubs.

The big difference from Settlement is that Homestead doesn't function as a professional treatment spa. Think of this as resort relaxation rather than a massage-and-facials destination.

Pick: Parkwood Lodge - Door County

Parkwood Lodge - Door County gives families another relaxing Fish Creek-area option.

Current amenities include a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, along with a game room, outdoor sitting areas, bonfire pit and pickleball, tennis and basketball courts.

That makes Parkwood a good match for a family in which “spa weekend” means soaking in a hot tub after Peninsula State Park rather than booking a full day of treatments.

White Gull Inn

The historic White Gull Inn isn't a spa resort, but it remains one of Door County's best choices for a romantic getaway.

Many rooms have fireplaces and double whirlpools, while the inn offers romance packages built around overnight lodging, breakfast and classic Door County experiences.

Pairing a White Gull stay with a massage elsewhere on the peninsula is a strong alternative to staying at a conventional resort.

AppleCreek Resort

AppleCreek Resort offers a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, while select suites have private whirlpool tubs and fireplaces.

The appeal here is value and location rather than luxury-spa service.

Ephraim

Quiet Eagle Harbor, historic buildings and west-facing sunsets already give Ephraim a retreat-like atmosphere.

Add one of Door County's most established spas just outside the village and it becomes an excellent choice for a romantic or wellness weekend.

Pick: Eagle Harbor Inn

Eagle Harbor Inn is particularly well suited to this guide.

Its Commons currently includes an indoor current pool, dry sauna and fitness room, while its apartment-style whirlpool suites feature six-foot whirlpool tubs, separate rain showers, fireplaces and full kitchens.

You also get the advantage of being in Ephraim's historic district near the waterfront.

Check rates and availability →

Ephraim Shores Resort

Ephraim Shores Resort sits directly across from Eagle Harbor and offers several room types specifically built around whirlpool tubs.

The property currently advertises Spa King rooms with double whirlpool tubs, along with an indoor pool and whirlpool.

Best for: Couples who want waterfront Ephraim and an in-room soaking tub without moving into a high-end luxury price tier.

Edgewater Resort

Edgewater Resort gives travelers another waterfront Ephraim option.

Current amenities include a seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub, fitness center, private shorefront and dock, plus fireplaces in many accommodations.

The location is excellent if your relaxation plan involves equal parts soaking and sunset watching.

The Spa at Sacred Grounds

If you're picking one dedicated spa in northern Door County, The Spa at Sacred Grounds deserves serious consideration.

Current treatments include Swedish and deep-tissue massage, couples massage, skincare, acupuncture, sauna and steam services, prenatal massage and the signature Door County Hot Stone Massage, which uses stones collected from Door County shores.

Sacred Grounds operates year-round at 10453 Townline Road near Ephraim.

That makes it easy to pair with lodging in Ephraim, Sister Bay, Fish Creek or northern Egg Harbor.

Sister Bay

Sister Bay is the best northern Door County base if your group wants plenty to do beyond the resort.

The village has several family properties with substantial pool-and-sauna amenities, along with quieter options for couples.

See our full Sister Bay guide for restaurants, beaches and things to do nearby.

Birchwood Lodge

Birchwood Lodge sits on five acres above Sister Bay.

The resort currently has heated indoor and seasonal outdoor pools plus a Swedish sauna. Its suites are designed for longer stays and many have fireplaces and whirlpool tubs.

Best for: Families or couples who want condominium-style space with classic resort amenities.

Pheasant Park Resort

Pheasant Park Resort is another strong family option.

Its year-round indoor pool area includes a pool, hot tub and sauna, while the resort also adds larger multi-bedroom accommodations and family recreation.

For extended-family trips, having larger suites and indoor recreation can be especially useful during Door County's unpredictable shoulder seasons.

Country House Resort

Country House Resort offers a very different atmosphere.

The quiet waterfront resort sits on 27 wooded acres with 1,100 feet of shoreline and welcomes adults and children ages 13 and older.

This isn't a full-service spa resort, but it belongs in the conversation for travelers prioritizing peace, water views and a more grown-up environment.

Pick: Open Hearth Lodge

Open Hearth Lodge is one of the most versatile choices in this entire guide.

The lodge currently offers a heated indoor pool, large whirlpool, fitness center and infrared sauna. It also has 6.4 acres of outdoor space, playground amenities and select dog-friendly rooms.

In other words, you could bring the kids and the dog while still getting an actual sauna into the trip.

Baileys Harbor

Baileys Harbor provides the most distinctly outdoorsy version of wellness in Door County.

This is the Lake Michigan side of the peninsula: quieter, windier and surrounded by protected natural areas.

And it now has one amenity no other Wisconsin resort can match.

Gordon Lodge and Kiln Floating Sauna

Gordon Lodge introduced Kiln Floating Sauna at its North Bay property in 2025.

Gordon Lodge currently describes Kiln as the only floating sauna in Wisconsin and on Lake Michigan. The sauna sits along the resort's pier and offers guided sessions incorporating the Nordic hot-and-cold thermic cycle.

The rest of Gordon Lodge adds a seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub, private sandy beach, hiking trails, fitness center and complimentary kayaks and paddleboards for guests.

This is easily the most unusual wellness experience in this guide.

Best for: Couples, groups or anyone who wants the spa portion of the trip to feel like an adventure.

Baileys Harbor Yacht Club Resort

Baileys Harbor Yacht Club Resort is one of the area's stronger year-round resort options.

Current amenities include a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, sauna and exercise room, plus a seasonal outdoor pool and waterfront setting.

Unlike Gordon Lodge, this is less about a signature spa experience and more about having traditional relaxation amenities available throughout the year.

Washington Island

Washington Island is less about resort amenities and more about getting away from everything.

That makes it a surprisingly natural wellness destination.

You'll need the Washington Island Ferry to get there, and our complete Washington Island family guide can help plan the rest of the trip.

Hotel Washington & Studio

Hotel Washington & Studio combines historic lodging with yoga and retreat programming.

The biggest correction from earlier versions of this guide is seasonality: Hotel Washington's 2026 lodging season opened in early May rather than operating year-round.

The main hotel has eight historic guest rooms. For more privacy, The Cottage has a private bath, kitchenette and outdoor space, while The Livery includes a private hot tub and secluded outdoor setting.

For travelers who think of wellness as yoga, slower mornings, good food and getting away from traffic, this may be the most immersive option on the peninsula.

More Door County Massage & Wellness Options

Door County Massage

Door County Massage has Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor locations, making it particularly convenient if your hotel doesn't offer professional treatments.

Current offerings include customized massage, couples massage, hot stone, prenatal massage and more.

Spa Verde

Spa Verde in Egg Harbor specializes in massage, natural skincare, body treatments and holistic wellness, with an infrared sauna available alongside massage services.

The Well Nest

The Well Nest adds massage, facials, yoga, acupuncture and other wellness services to Egg Harbor's unusually strong spa scene.

The Spa at Sacred Grounds

The Spa at Sacred Grounds near Ephraim offers one of the peninsula's deepest spa menus, including massage, couples treatments, sauna, steam, skincare and acupuncture.

Our Picks by Trip Type

Best for a Real Spa Experience

Settlement Inn & Lavender Spa is one of the easiest choices if you want professional massage services located right where you're staying.

For a dedicated day-spa experience, The Spa at Sacred Grounds has the broadest traditional spa feel.

Most Unique Wellness Experience

Kiln Floating Sauna at Gordon Lodge.

Nothing else in Door County — or currently anywhere else in Wisconsin, according to Gordon Lodge — provides quite the same sauna-on-the-water experience.

Best for Families

Bridgeport Waterfront Resort for younger children and the splash area.

Newport Resort for the combination of saltwater pools, hot tub, play areas and apartment-style suites.

Homestead Suites for Fish Creek access plus pool, whirlpool and sauna.

Open Hearth Lodge for families who want a pool and infrared sauna while still having outdoor space and pet-friendly options.

Best for Couples

The Ashbrooke for an age-16+ couples-oriented atmosphere.

Eagle Harbor Inn for whirlpool suites plus sauna and Ephraim charm.

Settlement Inn & Lavender Spa if treatments are the priority.

Country House Resort for a quiet waterfront setting that doesn't accommodate children under 13.

Best for a Winter Wellness Weekend

Start with Sturgeon Bay, Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, Ephraim or Sister Bay, where more restaurants, spas and hotels remain open outside peak season.

Our Door County winter guide has much more on what stays open and what to do between spa appointments.

Build a Door County Spa Weekend

For a simple two-night getaway, you don't need to over-plan it.

Friday: Check into your hotel, have dinner and spend the evening in the pool, sauna or whirlpool.

Saturday: Sleep in, grab breakfast, hike Peninsula State Park or the Ridges, then schedule your massage or spa appointment for the afternoon. Finish with a relaxed dinner and sunset.

Sunday: Coffee, brunch and one easy Door County stop before heading home.

For a couples trip, add the White Gull Inn, wineries or a winter fireplace evening.

For a girls weekend, pair treatments with Egg Harbor shopping, wine tasting and Sister Bay.

Our Door County girls weekend guide has a full itinerary if relaxation is only part of the trip.

The Bottom Line

Door County isn't a destination built around enormous hotel spas.

That's part of its appeal.

Instead, wellness is woven into the peninsula: a massage in the woods, an infrared sauna at your lodge, an in-room whirlpool, a quiet yoga morning on Washington Island or a floating sauna sitting directly on Lake Michigan.

For families, properties like Bridgeport, Newport, Homestead and Open Hearth let the kids have a legitimate resort vacation while parents get access to hot tubs, saunas and relaxation.

For couples, Settlement Inn, Eagle Harbor Inn, The Ashbrooke and Country House create quieter escapes where slowing down is essentially the point.

And if you're still comparing locations rather than specific properties, our complete Door County lodging guide, luxury Door County stays guide and town-by-town lodging guide are good places to continue planning.
